Xbox LIVE Indie Games (aka XBLIG)
Xbox LIVE Indie Games is a distribution channel on the Xbox LIVE Marketplace where
independent and hobby game developers can sell their games to Xbox LIVE users. It
sits as a sibling to Xbox LIVE Arcade on the Xbox LIVE Marketplace.

Features Coming Soon
The original XboxIndies.com website was created by then XNA MVP
Nick Gravelyn. In late 2009 Nick was called to the mother ship and
now works at Microsoft on the XNA team. As part of the change, Nick had to
step away from running XboxIndies.com. The site was dormant until in early
2011 the crew at FuncWorks, who are XNA developers themselves and run GameMarx.com,
had a new idea for a XBLIG portal site that would be resource on all thing Xbox
Indie. Nick was kind to let us use his former site as our new home!
We have big plans for the site, and will be rolling out features over the next several
months. Our goal, to put it in Hollywood speak, is like "FaceBook meets
StackOverflow for Xbox Indie Games!" Some of the things we have planned
are:
- Developer Profiles - Website links, blogs, etc all maintained by the developers
themselves
- Developer Press Releases - Developers can use XboxIndies.com to market their games
- User Reviews - Give the people a voice
- Metacritic-style Scores - See a game's review scores across XBLIG review sites
- Game Recommendations - Ambitious, but with user review system possible
- XboxIndies.com API - Access the XIDB directly
"This sounds great, but don't you have a conflict of interest here? You
do run a review site!" Yes, it's true. Some of the features
we plan for XboxIndies.com were planned for GameMarx.com - but we feel they make
more sense here. We don't want to take advantage however of one site for the
other, so before we use any content from XboxIndies on GameMarx we will make it
available to everyone though the XboxIndies API.
XNA
XNA (or more properly XNA Game Studio) is the technology used by developers to produce
the games on Xbox LIVE Indie Games. If you are a developer, head over to the
App Hub to find links to the tools, samples, and the developer
forums.
